Islamabad:
Overseas Pakistanis can use FBR tax-free mobile registration facility for 120 days per day. Visit under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) policy.
Pakistan Telecomm-Unication Authority (PTA) facilitates this service through its free, automated temporary mobile registration system available via Dirbs Portal: said a news message.
This module has been introduced to the overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals who do not intend to store their mobile device in Pakistan and will only apply to a mobile handset unit.
In order to use this facility, the applicant must provide his credentials including passport number, arrival date and intentional departure date, mobile SIM issued in his/her name and IMEI (R) on the device.
The new system performs real -time validation from FIA’s Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) to verify the applicant’s arrival date.
On the lapse of 120 days after the applicant’s stay, IMEI (S), which is used during this relief, must be suspended and will not be used on local network services. In the event that the same applicant will visit Pakistan again, he/she will be asked to request this temporary relief by entering the credentials used for 1st. Or previous registration under this scheme.
This system will not only facilitate overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals who come to Pakistan in the short term, but will also create a positive image of the country. Likewise, the controls introduced under this system will ensure that only the genuine overseas Pakistani/foreign national uses the facility.
