Tennis News: British Tennis Pro encourages the opponent to ‘carry deodorant’

British woman’s tennis player Harriet Dart raised the eyebrows after an emotional outburst during a match against the French opponent Lois Boisson at the Rouen Open Tuesday.

Dart lost against Boisson in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. However, the transition was when she triggered controversy. She was heard tell the judge, “Can you ask her to wear deodorant … because she smells really bad.” Dart referred to Boisson.

The clip was viral across social media.

Dart expressed regrets in an apology that was sent on social media, saying on Instagram, “It was a heat-of moment comment that I really regret.”

“That’s not how I want to carry myself and I take full responsibility,” she added. “I have a lot of respect for Lois, and how she competed today. I learn from this and move on.”

Boisson tried to make light on the situation. She sent a photo of herself with a picture of Dove Deodorant.

Darts have five titles on ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour. She was ranked No. 109 in the world in the latest WTA locations last month. She is among the tennis players who manage to a French open bid. She lost in the first round of 2024 and 2022.

Boisson has a WTA 125 title and five titles on ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour. She was ranked No. 234 in the world in March. She came to the qualifying for the 2021 French Open, but a win against Dart can help build some momentum against the Grand Slam tournament.
