- Jet sqm is a small sqm over IP product to full remote control of any computer
- It raised over $ 4 million in crowdfunding from more than 30,000 backers
- The device includes USB-C, Ethernet, HDMI Mini and RJ11 extension to additions
Lots of crowdfunded campaigns do not draw enough promises to transform a project into reality, but that is not the case with jet sqm, a next generation open source of $ 69 next generation over IP device that can control any computer externally.
It was successfully funded on Kickstarter on December 3, 2024 and crushed its $ 50,000 goal with a full $ 4,370,767 in promises from impressive 31,598 backers.
Although the campaign is now completed, you can still become a late back man and the good news is that you should not have long to wait to receive the product as Jet Kvm is expected to start sending in April 2025.
Rare RJ11 extension port
The small hardware device gives you full remote access to a computer’s screen, keyboard and mouse, just like a physical sqm switch but over the Internet.
It connects to the target machine’s HDMI port to capture video and to a USB port to mimic input devices. Once configured, you can check the machine anywhere using a web browser. This is especially useful for headless systems, non -reacting machines or external BIOS access.
The device runs a Linux system based on Buildroot, powered by a Rockchip RV1106G3 (Arm Cortex-A7, 1.0 GHz) with built-in H.264 and H.265 coding. It includes 256 MB DDR3L RAM, 16 GB EMMC storage, Ethernet, USB-C, HDMI Mini and a unique RJ11 extension port.
The creators say JetVM streams 1080p video at 60 fps with 30-60 ms of latency. Remote access is handled via JetVM Cloud using webrtc for encrypted peer-to-peer connections. A 1.69-inch touch screen shows status and local controls, and the software written in GO is fully open source and modifiable via SSH.
Power can be supplied via USB-C, RJ11 or PIN heading. The RJ11 port, of which we are big fans, supports hardware extensions such as sensors, ATX Power Control or Serial Console Access.
Although Jet KVM has been financed successfully, and then some, we would be abandoned if we do not offer our usual crowdfunding warning: Delays happen, functions can change and delivery is not always guaranteed, so remember that in mind.
