Terrorist attack foiled by Bannu Cantt by security forces: ISPR

In a timely and coordinated response, security forces successfully averted an attempted terrorist attack on Bannu Cantt today after Iftar, the military’s media wing reported on Tuesday. Security personnel neutralized six militants at different entry points before they could cause further damage.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the assailants who are believed to be members of Khawarij tried to infiltrate the military canton. However, the rapid actions of the security forces prevented them from violating the area.

When the terrorists were forced into a state of panic because of the rapid response, they tried to detonate two bomb -loaded vehicles by going down the walls around Bannu Cantt.

However, the explosions of the bomb -loaded vehicles resulted in significant safety damage. A nearby mosque was damaged and the roof of an adjacent house collapsed.

Tragically, reports show that innocent civilians have been injured or martyrated in the blasts. The extent of damage is still assessed.

Security forces continue their approval operation in the area, ensuring that all remaining terrorists are neutralized. The operation will continue until the full elimination of the terror threat.
