DI KHAN:
Unidentified terrorists abducted and later martyred a police constable in Tank district, officials said on Friday.
The slain officer, Constable Qeemat Khan, was laid to rest with full state honors at the police lines in a tank.
Unidentified gunmen kidnapped Constable Qeemat Khan of Sheikh Azam Khora in Daud Khel village when he was returning home from duty. The attackers later shot and killed him.
A large number of police officers, personnel and officials of security forces, including District Police Officer (DPO) Tank Shabbir Hussain Shah, attended the funeral prayers. Senior officers placed wreaths on the martyr’s coffin and a smartly attended police contingent presented a salute.
After the burial, special prayers were offered for elevation of the ranks of the martyr, national security and lasting peace in the country.
On this occasion, police officials paid glowing tributes to the fallen constable and promised that his sacrifice would not go in vain. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue the fight against terrorism until complete peace is restored in Tank and throughout the nation. Operations against anti-government elements, they said, would be intensified to ensure public security and stability.
