A cop was wounded in Kohat’s Shadipur area, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, after terrorists threw a hand grenade on a police car. In response, retaliated security forces, killed a militant and arrested several others.
Weapons and a hand grenade were regained from attackers and there is currently a search operation in the area. The police van also sustained injuries to the attack.
A regional police officer (RPO) confirmed that a terrorist was killed when police reciprocated.
Several militants were also arrested during surgery and weapons were seized, including hand grenades from them, he added.
Previously, a convoy of 130 vehicles, including five oil tankers, was complied with by unidentified armed attacks in the Kurram district on Monday. The convoy traveling from high to parachute came under attack near Char Khel in Lower Kurram.
The attackers opened fire on the convoy, stopped vehicles and looting supplies, including a truck carrying medication. Police sources confirmed that Akram Khan, a driver from Peshawar, was injured in the incident and was transferred to Ali Zai Hospital for treatment.
Security forces responded to the attack, with gunfire also reported in the nearby Uchit and Father Qamar areas.
The district administration later confirmed that 113 vehicles reached their destination safely.
At least 74 attacks took place nationwide in January, resulting in 91 deaths, including 35 security personnel, 20 civilians and 36 militants. Another 117 people were injured, reported picss.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was the worst hit province, followed by Balochistan. Resident districts in KP saw 27 attacks causing 19 deaths, while tribal districts witnessed 19 attacks and 46 fatalities, including security forces, civilians and militants.
