Heavy camouflaged versions of the new model S and Model Y have been discovered that are tested by Germany’s reverent, high-performance Nurburgring Race Circuit, which suggests that upgraded Model’s Plaid and Model Y services will soon be sold.
Photos, first reported by Autocar, reveal that the two models are clearly based on the latest generation line-up, with the model Y, the sporty light beam at the front and slimmer side profile, while Model S packs the new bumper and grill arriving with a styling refresh earlier this year.
However, the two cars that spots have thumping around Nurburgring have clearly have additional body work elements, including more aggressive air ducts on Model’s Plaid and a long Ductail spoiler on the model Y to minimize drag.
In true Tesla style, we have not been given any specification for the upgraded high -performance models, although Autocar suggests that Cybertruck’s 800V electrical architecture could drastically improve the charging speeds for the Model’s Plaid Review if introduced.
Despite this, Tesla Pind is expected with its double engine, four-wheel drive setup to model Y and a tri-motor setup for the model’s Plaid, which is currently developing a staggering 1,020 hp and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.1 seconds, according to some tests.
The Model Y performance will also benefit from the myriad updates introduced earlier this year, including a more premium feeling interior, more comfortable seats and improvements in sound fertilizers and riding quality.
Taking back the crown back?
Tesla Model’s Plaid was once the last word in high-performance electric salons that shocked the world with its ability to run back-to-back hot laps, even go so far as to set a record around Nurburgring’s North Schleife Circuit.
This was overturned by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT last year, which improved Tesla’s trial of an impressive 18 seconds. However, there are newer threats from China, with Xiaomi’s surprisingly affordable SU7 Ultra taking the title of the fastest electric production car this month – even better Rimac’s Hypercar effort.
Electric performance cars have moved on at a pace since the original Model S Plaid arrived in 2021, with the way Lucid gained popularity and Mercedes-AMG, who was ready to release its own super saloon over weeks.
It is a similar story for model Y performance that occupies the slightly gray area of High Performance Family SUVs. If it was launched tight, it will go up against the formidable Porsche Macan Turbo Electric as well as Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Crossover of all Crossovers – Smart #5 Brabus.
Although not intended to be large sellers of Tesla, the introduction of headline that grabs high -performance models could help repair some of the recent damage to its reputation, which has led to a serious fall in sales.
