- LA-based Diner offers EV PLACKING, FOOD AND MORE
- The project has been seven years in progress
- Tesla owners can sync movies on the big screen for screens in the car
Tesla has officially opened the doors to her retro-futuristic drive-in dining room, located on Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles and acts as a charging destination and hip-hangout.
First advertised by CEO Elon Musk back in 2018, the project broke the Earth only two years ago, with very little information in the meantime about exactly what it would bring.
But unlike some of Tesla’s other projects, this one seems to have handed over his promise.
The large corner plot houses 80 V4 SuperCharger stalls that are open to all electric vehicles with the North American charging standard (NACS) port, while sunbaldaxes offer shade to drivers and provide power to charging points and place.
There is also a 24/7 dining room, complete with an upper handle Skypad for Al Fresco-eating, serving burgers, french fries, chicken wings, milkshakes and other classic allamerican culinary delights. In addition, Tesla owners can order via a tailor -made dining room app from their vehicles and get the food delivered to their car.
Look at
Two, 66-foots led “Megaskreens” play a rotation of modern and classic films that can be enjoyed from the Skypad or inside the car to get an authentic on the drive-in experience as a tailor-made app syncs interior screens with what’s going on outside.
According to Tesla, the menu has been curated by chef Eric Greenspan and restaurateur Bill Chait, but is designed to emulate the offers found in classic eateries yesterday. So think cheeseburgers, french fries and shake.
Of course, there is also a Merch stand that sells everything from caps and t-shirts to “supercharged rubberies”. Oh, and the food is served in small cyber truck -shaped boxes, which is sweet.
Analysis: Exactly what the EV industry needs

Despite the recent registration figures that suggest that EVs are slowly becoming more popular with buyers in the United States, Europe and beyond, there is still a large sector of the public that stays on the fence – or just hate the technology.
Tesla’s dining room doesn’t really have to exist, but it’s exactly the kind of thing that shows that electric vehicles can offer something a little different. The ability to charge, eat and enjoy a movie certainly strikes to waste gasoline all over your hands on a gas station.
Elon Musk has already suggested that he plan to roll out several places if LA turns out to be successful, while Rivian already has some of the coolest charging outlets in Joshua Tree and Yosemite.
Porsche and Mercedes-Benz also expand their charging rooms, offering premium surroundings and good coffee for anyone who uses them.
It is a smart solution to the potential pain point for EV ownership – making the negative of longer charging sessions a positive experience.
It also makes sense to move electric vehicles from the constant environmental message, CO2 reduction and sensible fuel saving rhetoric. To suggest that they can also be fun is a smart way to persuade an indecisive audience and the next generation.
