Texas A&M Announces Loved Mascot Reveille X’s Eye Procedure, Recovery Plan

Texas A & M’s beloved mascot is being repaired after undergoing a medical procedure to address a health concern, a university official said.

Reveille X, a collie, had his right eye surgically removed after veterinarians diagnosed her with glaucoma. Reveille X, also known as “First Lady of Aggieland,” experienced discomfort and unclear in the eye before diagnosis and surgery, said Texas A&M President Mark A. Welsh III.

The removal of the eye was performed by an abundance of caution after discovering signs of abnormal tissue, added Welsh.

“I am grateful to report that Miss Rev has come through the operation successfully, has been discharged and rested comfortably,” Welsh said.

Texas A & M’s Reveille -Mascot goes back to 1931, when a group of cadets found a wounded dog and snek her on to campus. The dog barked when the bugs played morning Reveille and served her Reveille name.

Reveille X, the latest iteration of Agggies -mascot, has been patrolling the team’s sidelines since the 2021 season. A soup -up golf cart known as “Rev Force One” helps transport the collia across campus.

Welsh said Reveille will need some time from her duties as she continues to recover. However, the long -haired collie is expected to be able to resume engagements in the fall.

“According to her veterinary team, we can expect Miss Rev to be back to enjoy all her favorite activities – cruise on the Rev Force One, participate in classes, cheer on Agggies and keep our campus squirrel in line – in the fall,” he said.

Texas A&M went 8-5 last season during first-year head coach Mike Elko.
