Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office announced on Friday that Dallas Independent School District (“ISD”) has accepted an order to ensure that the district does not violate the state law by allowing trans athletes to compete in girls’ sports.
The deal comes after Paxton requested items from Dallas ISD in February after the release of a video showing a school district’s official explaining loopholes to a parent and how they could have their biologically male child on a girls’ sports team via a changed birth certificate.
The video, made by an undercover journalist from the sales accuracy in the media, showed a Dallas ISD LGBTQ youth coordinator who said Texas had not made a distinction between giving neither an original or updated birth certificate for the school’s sexual eligibility.

“Always refining, you know? They find the loopholes in everything,” the advisor said in the video.
“I tell people all the time, I want to go to jail for saving their child’s lives,” the advisor continued. “I guess no conservative children come out gay.”
Later in January, a school manager from Irving Isd Set was telling an undercover journalist about the same loophole in another accuracy in the media video.

“Could you legally change the gender of a birth certificate? I don’t know enough about that topic,” Irving isd iced clerk was seen and said in the video. “If you can get it done and you turn us a birth certificate that says ‘this gender’, that’s the gender we go with.”
Paxton then requested a comprehensive list of documents from Dallas ISD and Irving ISD on February 6th. On March 31, Paxton filed a legal petition to carry out deposits of central Dallas ISD officials to ensure that the district does not violate the Texas Act by allowing biological men to participate in girls sports.
Now Paxton has entered into an agreement with Dallas ISD to ensure that such logging holes are not exploited.

“I urge all other school districts to fulfill their legal obligations to protect girls ‘sports and end any attempt to circumvent the Texas Law. Biological men have no place in girls’ sports, and any Texas public schools that do otherwise will be held responsible,” Paxton said in a statement.
In June 2023, Texas Save Women’s Sports Act, which prohibits trans -athletes, adopted to compete in girls and women’s sports and only allow students to compete in the gender category listed on their birth certificate. The law only allows schools to recognize changes made for birth certificates made to correct a spiritual error.
