Tezgam Express, who traveled from Karachi to Rawalpindi, derailed at Rohri Station, with one of its bogies leaving the field.
After receiving the report on the incident, a crane was sent from the Loco shed to immediately restore the derailed bogie on the field, Express News reported.
Railway sources have confirmed that the accident has blocked the up-track and caused damage to the rails. As a result, several trains have been delayed and unable to proceed to their destinations.
Bahauddin Zakariya Express has been stopped at Begamaji Station, while Shah Hussain Express, Green Line Express and Fareed Express have been stopped at various stations.
Railway men have initiated an investigation into the accident and the repair work is underway to restore the track and resume train services as soon as possible.
Last month, Shalimar Express, traveling from Lahore to Karachi, derived near the Shahdara area of Punjab’s Lahore disctrict.
The derailment, which took place near Barkat Town, narrowly avoided a major disaster, reported a local news channel.
The train, instead of overturning into a populated area, was stuck in the middle of a bridge and prevented further damage.
