On the 60th Defense and Martyr’s Day, Pakistan’s armed forces greeted the eternal courage from the nation’s heroes, paid tribute to the martyrs and honor the families whose victim remains the foundation of the country’s defense.
Those who led the tribute included Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, nine (M), HJ, Chief of Staff; General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Ni, Ni (M), President Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC); Admiral Naveed Ashraf, nine, nine (M), Chief of the Navy Staff; and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, nine (M), HJ, Chief of the Air Staff.
“September 6, 1965, marks the obscurity and unwavering spirit of the Pakistani nation.
“On this historic day, our brave soldiers stood with the support of the nation as an invincible wall against obvious aggression, preventing the dishonest design of an enemy that was far superior to weapons and numbers.
“Feats of Heroic Valor and Sacrifice left an indelible message on Sands of Time: That a United Nation can never be defeated,” states a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing said in its message on this happiness day that the courage of the nation’s fearless heroes continues to inspire future generations, and their inheritance must live forever, according to the statement.
“Today, the nation honors and greets its martyrs, its ghazis and their resilient families who have offered unique victims of the security of this great country.
“Apart from being resolute against external aggression and terrorism, the armed forces have always supported the population of Pakistan in accidents and natural disasters.”
The armed forces also expressed the decision to extend all-out support to the victims of the ongoing floods over Pakistan and celebrate the day with the utmost humility.
“Today, we confirm our promise to maintain the sacred responsibility that the nation has entrusted with us.”
It said the country’s guardian remains ever vigilant and prepared to defend the country against all kinds of threats, and any attempt to disturb our hard earned peace will be met with an appropriate and crucial reaction.
“May Allah Almighty continue to bless Pakistan with peace, stability and strength. Pakistan armed forces Zindabad, Pakistan Hamesha Pamerdabad,” the statement concluded.
