The American Citizen Moves IHC to Track Man, Children in Pakistan

An American citizen of Pakistani origin has approached Islamabad High Court (IHC) who is seeking help to trace her husband and two minor children who were allegedly brought to Pakistan instead of being taken for Umrah.

The petitioner, Ghulam Ghausia Akhunzada, told the court that she married taxi residents Muhammad Owais Tariq in January 2014. After their marriage Tariq resided in the United States, where the couple had two sons – Arham, 8 and Haider, 5.

She said her husband took the children’s passports under the prerequisite of performing Umrah, but instead traveled to Pakistan without her consent.

“My husband has several addresses in Pakistan. I searched for him and the children, but couldn’t trace them,” she said, adding that a local court in the United States had already decided to her advantage.

The petitioner requested the court to order the authorities to find her husband and order him to hand over custody of the children. During the consultation, IHC Justice Muhammad Asif the Director General of the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency to track Tariq and submit a complete report before Thursday.
