- Apple Watch Series 11 is unlikely to get oxygen monitoring
- Its other rumored features don’t feel interesting enough to me
- This means I will probably skip the upgrade this year
The Apple Watch Series 11 is probably about six months from the launch, but rumors of its new features have been few and far in between. Right now, I’m struggling to see a reason to upgrade from my Apple Watch series 10 – even considering the latest rumors.
Here are five reasons why I’m thinking of giving the Apple Watch Series 11 a passport, from a rumor of a lack of new features to some potentially smooth additions.
1. Blood oxygen monitoring
The latest time bit around the series 11 comes from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who says there is no evidence that Apple is reinstating a Blood Oxygen Detection system in its upcoming Smartwatch.
In case you missed it, Apple has been forced to disable this feature following a contentious patent conflict. But if Gurman – who has a strong track record for Apple Leaks – can’t see it returning soon, it’s a minor reason I will upgrade later in the year.
2. 5G and satellite connection
The Apple Watch Ultra is the more robust (and expensive) version of the regular Apple Watch, and it often gets advanced features before any other Watch edition. This may be the case again this year if the rumors are correct, with both 5G and satellite connection that potentially come to Ultra. However, series 11 is expected to miss.
Especially satellite connection would really interest me as it would let me contact the outside world if I was stuck in the desert without a signal. But for $ 799, Apple Watch Ultra is outside my budget – and with these features that allegedly skip the series 11, that’s another reason for me to give it a pass.
3. Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire yet, and even though I have it on my iPhone and my Mac, I find that I hardly use it on any of them. And with some of the best Apple Intelligence features that are delayed, there is not much incentive to use it regularly.
This means that even if the Apple Watch Series 11 comes with an Apple Intelligence upgrade, it is unlikely to convince me to upgrade unless there is a major change in its abilities. For now, I’m happy to put it out.
4. New colors
Occasionally, Apple brings out a new Apple Watch color and it is joking to happen again this year. Although the new nuances have generally been rather sympathetic, the problem is that they never seem to swing me.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Jet Black Apple Watch Series 10 looked beautiful and the deep Blue Series 7 model also caught my eye. Still, I’ve always chosen the silver -colored aluminum surgery because that color comes with so many watches. Even if Apple is launching a new color this year, I would probably still go after that silver thanks to its flexibility.
5. Blood pressure warnings
Apple Watch has become an excellent tool for health and fitness, and it’s good at warning you if your health metrics start showing worrying signs. It could get another boost this year if the blood pressure monitoring comes to the Apple Watch series 11, as it has been rumored.
My problem is not with this feature itself as I think it would be worth having. The problem is that I don’t think this feature alone is enough to tempt me to upgrade. With all the other features that I have not mentioned to do enough for me, it is unlikely that blood pressure warnings alone will be able to tilt the scales.
