The death toll from Nushki Oil thoughts -spplosion has risen to 20, After another critically wounded victim succumbed to burning injuries while underwent treatment in Karachi, rescue sources confirmed on Tuesday.
The incident took place near a truck terminal in Nushki when an oil tanker fired and exploded and injured more than 40 people. Many had gathered around the vehicle before the explosion.
The deceased, identified as Shakat, was hailed for his heroic act during the incident on April 28. Despite being shrouded in flames, he had tried to drive the burning tanker away from a densely populated area, Express News reported.
He maintained serious burns when the tanker exploded and had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi.
Earlier, in the wake of the tragedy, the spokesman for the Balochistan Government, Shahid Rind expressed his compassion for the grieving families.
He confirmed the provincial government’s obligation to provide the best possible medical treatment to those who are injured in the explosion who have demanded several lives and left the roll of society.
The incident has given rise to great concern about the safety protocols about the transport of dangerous materials.
Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the cause of the fire with the aim of preventing similar tragedy in the future.
