Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has sent an important US government program focusing on efficiency, innovation and silicon-dal-style fast tech correction packing.
Almost all staff for Defense Digital Service (DSS) have confirmed that they are resigning as a result of DOGE Pressure, with many of DSS ‘responsibilities to be taken over by the most important digital and artificial intelligence office.
DSS has been a key source for innovation and new technical adoption by the Pentagon in the last decade that introduced several technological remedies during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and Ukrainian Aid -Transferal programs.
DOGE DRIFTS DSS
Of the 14 employees who make up the DSS Office, 11 plans to take Trump’s deferred severance package at the end of April. DSS Director Jennifer Hay plans to leave on May 1st, with the two remaining employees planning to resign.
One of DSS’s main responsibilities was to introduce rapid sporting technology during national security events to help the Pentagon respond quickly to development situations.
While DSS responsibilities are transferred to another department, it is unclear how long it will take for the most important digital and artificial intelligence office to take on DSS responsibility -potentially put the Pentagon security at risk.
Many in the DSS office expected to be part of Dog’s efforts to improve the effectiveness of the Pentagon and introduce new AI technologies, but they were transferred by Musk, with hay, in which we said “the reason we stuck it out as long as we have is that we thought we should be called in.”
According to PoliticoThere were existing questions within the program ranging from political struggle to hiring freezers, but every employee of DSS said they would not leave, if not for DOGE. “The best way to say it, I think, is either we die quickly or we die slowly,” Hay added.
This is not the first modernization and innovation program facing the ax under DOGE, where the US digital service and the 18F program are both subject to layoffs and redundancies under pressure from DOGE.
A former Pentagon -Officer who was talking to Politico Under the subject of anonymity, Doges’ foray commented to improve the effectiveness of the Defense Ministry and indicate: “They don’t really use AI, they don’t really drift the efficiency. What they are doing is smashing everything.”
