- Apple’s foldable iPhone is on its way to selling in September 2026, based on a new rumor
- A well-known Apple analyst claims it will enter the production next year
- They also say its sales will be affected by its high price tag
Apple’s long-awaited folding iPhone will be in production next year, according to a leading analyst who puts it on course for a release with the iPhone 18 Series in September 2026.
Posting on X also claimed Ming-Chi Kuo that Apple expects relatively low sales of its compassionate because of what he says will be its “Premium pricing”.
If Kuo is on the money, this would mean there is not long to go until we get a glimpse of the company’s first attempt at a foldable unit. Then we finally find out how it goes against the rumored Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The folding iPhone has been rumored to come with an under-display camera, an almost invisible stitch, a beautiful screen and impressive battery life. It all means it doesn’t come cheap – which KUO seems to confirm – and that’s an important concern for me.
The price barrier
In the X-post, KUO noted that the recent rumors have claimed that Apple has ordered 15-20 million units of the device. Still, Kuo revealed that this is probably the number for “the product’s 2-3-year-old life cycle”, which sets sales estimates for each year significantly lower.
The importance of that is that Kuo says that the lower annual estimates all come down to the foldable “Premium pricing.” As with the expensive Vision Pro headset, the soaring price price of the folding iPhone will expose a lot of people, including myself-I dying to try this new development in iPhone-Line-Up, I am not willing to sell a kidney to get one.
How much are we talking here? We have previously seen reports that Apple could price the collapsible iPhone anywhere between $ 2,100 and $ 2,500. For context, the most expensive iPhone is starting right now – iPhone 16 Pro Max – at $ 1,199, making the folding iPhone about twice as expensive.
Of course, we do not know for sure until the folding iPhone is actually launched. But with the date that is fast approaching, it could well be out of reach for most of Apple’s customers.
