The gilded age season 4: Key information
– HBO confirmed renewal on July 28, 2025
– Currently speculated release window between 2026 to mid -2027
– The main herd is expected to return, Morgan Spector George less sure
– Plot information is currently under wrapping
The gilded age Season 4 was lit by HBO shortly before the penultimate episode of the third season was sent.
As per the Deadline, in front of The gilded age Season 3 final, the drama series was “to add viewers with a rate almost 50% higher than in previous seasons.” HBO’s leader of drama series and movies Francesca Orsi added: “We couldn’t be chairs of the undeniable viewer heights The gilded age have achieved this season.
“Transport of us to the 1880s New York City, Julian Fellowes and the hugely talented Role Crew and Crew have created a ‘Cant-Miss IT’ entertainment experience from week to week, and we are pleased to continue exploring the great ambitions of these characters for what we promise will be an exciting fourth season.”
For those uninitiated is the Hit HBO MAX TV show basically an American version of Downton Abbey (also created by Fellowes) after families in the upper class in NYC by the end of the 19th century. Old money has been against new money since the start of Season 1, and thanks to the continued drama between Bertha (Carrie Coon), George (Morgan Spector) and Gladys’ (Taissa Farmiga) recent marriage, it won’t stop.
But things have changed in the New York Society, and it’s potentially changing Bertha’s life for good. But what do we actually know about The gilded age Season 4 so far and what can we expect?
The gilded age season 4 release window speculation
From writing, no one confirmed release date The gilded age Season 4. This is not surprising considering Season 3 is not even cold yet and it will probably be a while before we get something more concrete than the renewal news itself.
However, this does not mean that we cannot come up with a trained guess. Season 1 premiered in January 2022 with season 2 in October 2023 and Season 3 in June 2025 (although it is worth remembering that the latter two seasons were influenced by WGA and case-Naftra strikes). Hopefully this means that the gap between seasons 3 and 4 will not be as long as we have seen before, giving us a rough timeline of the summer of 2026 to spring 2027 for new episodes.
The gilded age season 4 trailer: Is there one?

Not surprisingly, there is no trailer for Season 4 yet and there will not be in a while (it’s not even started filming yet). We will be sure to update this page as soon as you fall.
The gilded age season 4 role rescues rumors

Essentially, we look at the most important players from Season 3, all of whom are returning, although nothing has been confirmed yet. Only John Adams (Claybourne Elder) actually died in Season 3 – we will come back to George a little later – so there is nothing suggesting anyone else will leave at this time. Of course, an actor can always be written out if they want or to save planning clashes, but let’s assume it won’t happen.
Here are the role crew members we will respect to return to The gilded age Season 4:
- Carrie Coon as Bertha Russell
- Phylicia rashad as Mrs. Elizabeth Kirkland
- Cynthia Nixon as Ada Brook
- Christine Baranski as Agnes Van Rhijn
- Harry Richardson as Larry Russell
- Denée Benton as Peggy Scott
- Jordan Donica as Dr. William Kirkland
- Louisa Jacobson as Marian Brook
- Taissa Farmiga as Gladys Russell
- Ben Lamb as Duke of Buckingham
- Blake Ritson as Oscar van Rhijn)
- Audra McDonald as Dorothy Scott
- Kelley Curran Like Enid Winteron
- Kelli O’Hara as Aurora tab
- Donna Murphy as Mrs. Astor
- Ben Ahlers like Jack Treacher
- Douglas Sills like Monsieur Baudin
- Celia Keenan-Bolger as Mrs. Bruce
- Simon Jones as Mr. Bannister
- Jack Gilpin as Church
- Debra Monk as Armstrong
- Phylicia rashad like Elizabeth Kirkland
- Brian Stokes Mitchell as Frederick Kirland
Of course, there is an elephant in the room: Will Morgan Spector return as George? The jury is currently looking for his unexpected departure. Other societal outcasts like Nathan Lane (Ward McALLister) also have a question against them.
The gilded age season 4 plot rumors

Larger spoilers follow for The gilded age Season 3.
Let’s summarize what we learned in season 3 last episodes. George’s life hung in the balance of the final scene in season 3 section 7. He had previously won against Clay (Patrick Page) and Mr. Sage (Peter McRobbie) and got the business back on the field despite their rivalry. However, this comes at a price. A courier soon visited George’s Office and pulled a gun on his secretary before aiming right against George himself. The gun went out, the screen turns black and we did not know if he is alive or dead.
In section 8 we find out that George was actually shot, but managed to make a miraculous improvement. Hurray! Life is saved and Russells can return to being the stoic strength of the New York Society, as they have always been, right? Wrong. When George is good enough to remember that he is being streamed live at HBO Max, he immediately tells wife Bertha that he is not even sure if he loves her or trusts her, where he travels to New York without as much as an amicable thought between them.
Like Gladys announces that she is pregnant right in the last moments of the episode, George is apparently out of the picture. This means that Bertha got everything she had worked against, but has now been left without a stable family unit by her own.
As far as Carrie Coon is concerned, Bertha doesn’t take any of this lying down. In a speech with the Hollywood reporter, she explained, “It’s of course heartbreaking. But at the same time, her wheels are already turning about how she wants to fix it. You know she will not give up. She is indispensable, of course.” So I think she looks out of that window and she wants to have a moment of grief and then she will do it to work.
She later said to Variety: “I don’t know [if they’ll get back together]. It depends on what George wants. “She added by George’s reveal,” it feels very real to me in long -term relationships. A person can go through a very transformative experience that the other person does not have access to, and it takes them for a while to find their way back to each other. “

However, Morgan Spector was optimistic and told TVLINE: “Because we know how good this couple can be together, it would be really fascinating to watch them spend a season figuring out how to get back to each other.”
Obviously, Bertha and George are not all that is going on on the show. Marian and Larry are still on their way to getting married, Peggy is recently engaged to William (despite his mother’s objections), and Oscar may be heading for a lavender marriage with Enid. Of course, we see Gladys’ pregnancy also playing out.
“I hope I don’t have to play pregnant for too long,” Taissa Farmiga told Marie Claire. I won’t have to wear a corset with a pregnancy belt. Let’s just throw this out there – maybe Julian reads this. But also I want to do what to do!
“I think she will be more inspired by George’s parents than by Bertha’s parents. I think she wants to give more of the emotional comfort that Bertha doesn’t give, even though we know Bertha loves her children. She loves them so much, but sometimes a child needs a hug and a gentle smile, not like a firm man.
