The government issues advice on Wi-Fi use

ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has declared Wi-Fi routers to be insecure. In this regard, the National Information Technology Board (NITB) has issued guidance to all organizations regarding security threats associated with wireless networks.

The advisory outlines cybersecurity risks associated with using Wi-Fi networks and includes precautions.

The advisory emphasizes the importance of securing Wi-Fi routers as they are a critical component of modern ICT infrastructure.

NITB says due to the increasing number of vulnerabilities, default security configurations and lack of user awareness, malicious actors can gain unauthorized access to networks or systems, install malware and steal sensitive information.
