The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 arrives in the spring of 2025, and while we are eagerly waiting for the last season of one of the best Hulu series, there is plenty to talk about.
Adapted from Margaret Atwood’s best -selling novel with the same name, five gripping seasons have so far told the dystopian tale of a totalitarian society, Gilead, forcing fertile women to become surrogates for the rich and privileged. Led by Offred (Elisabeth Moss), a Handmaid awarded to a couple, has fought for his freedom over five seasons, and yet there is still more to come.
As one of the best streaming services Hulu has amazed over The Handmaid’s Tale, Winning a number of awards during its eight intense years – and the final aims to tie the show with a bow – in any color, we hope, but red. Here is everything we know from the release date, possible plot, confirmed role crew, news, rumors and more.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6: Is there a release date?
In September 2024, an official Instagram post of Moss, which had a production lattice board, revealed that the recording had begun. It also revealed that The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 comes in the spring of 2025, which has since been confirmed by Hulu to be April 8th. Exciting news, given that it is almost three years since Season 5.
While the previous seasons came out in consecutive years there was a delay for The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 because of the case-night strike. Fortunately, the resolution came the chance to finally start filming the long -awaited last season and bringing the dystopian tale to end.
Three of the last five seasons have been released in April – and filming for them took place between September and February – so the release date is in line with previous seasons. Film shooting for season 6 started in September and is not yet wrapped.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6: Has a trailer been released?
While there have not been any trailer in full length yet to The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 there was a teaser embedded in the trailer Disney Plus and Hulu 2025. Unfortunately, even if we can’t share the trailer, we can tell you what’s displayed. It starts with Serena Joy saying, “Something big is happening,” followed by June added, “Let’s bring them home.” For the time being, that’s all we need to continue, but we update here when a trailer falls.

First look images of The Handmaid’s Story Season 6 officially confirmed the return of most of the main herd – although we imagine that anyone who is not highlighted will still be back for the sixth and last season:

While the main herd is reprise their roles, there are also two new roles that have been thrown – although details of their roles are held firmly during packaging.
First in July 2024, the deadline revealed that Blurred and The good wife Star, Josh Charles, would join Season 6: “In a series of regular capacity.” Then in September 2024 according to variation a new role for VEEP and No one wants this Star, Timothy Simons, was revealed. Simons has allegedly been thrown into a guest role, but as mentioned we have no further intel than that right now.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 is the last season of the show – and then there’s a lot to tie up, especially considering how season 5 ended. June was on a train with his former Captor, Serena, and their babies in tow. They are not accurate On good terms, the situation, when they escape to Canada, will certainly be interesting to see unfold.
Although June was not intended to be alone as the escape plan was always intended to involve Luke. Unfortunately, after June, Luke was almost murdered by a man directed by Gilead, Luke killed him and eventually handed himself in to the police and left June without him.
For June’s role in season 6, Elisabeth Moss spoke with ELLE: “I think it will be a season when June will find out who she is and who she wants to be the rest of her life.” She added: “The match is not just about an individual; it’s much bigger than that. And I think she’s in season five, to get to the place where she’s aware of it. And then season six will very much deal with it, and then about all the figures that find out whose side they are on and what their next trait is.
There is also Nick’s successful escape to Canada after his wife, Rose, left him. Janine is pulled away by his eyes and Aunt Lydia, showing some real feelings about the situation. Plus, Commander Lawrence’s hopes and dreams for New Bethlehem seem more likely after the commander’s death.
But there is a big change when it comes to who is running the show when Bruce Miller stepped down to focus on his next project – screen adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s successor, “The Testaments,” as reported by Deadline. Good news for spin-off but he’s back The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 in the hands of Eric Tuchman and Yahlin Chang. There both worked on the show before this step.
Before he traveled, Ben Miller talked to Entertainment Weekly about the last season: “We end our show on our own creative terms. Hulu and MGM have been uniquely remarkable and generous in that way. So it looks like that The Handmaid’s Tale Can come to an end, the story of the Republic of Gilead could live on through an adaptation of Atwood’s follow -up novel. The wills is set 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale – Told by Aunt Lydia, Agnes, a woman who lives in Gilead, and Daisy, a woman who lives in Canada. Without giving more away to those who haven’t read the book, there’s plenty of story left to tell.
