One of my favorite things about Sora, Openai’s incredible AI video theorator, is that you can see what everyone else all over the world is doing with it. People generate both still images and video in Sora, and because you can see exactly what they create as a large gallery, you get a look at what the current AI generation trends are.
Of course, the boxed action character trend is still strong and before that was the studio ghibli-style images. But today I noticed that there are many appeals directly to the developers that appear in Sora’s photo gallery.
These have the form of people who stop bulletin boards with messages such as “Sora -Team, we need 16: 9 image generation!” And “Sora team, we need an independent app!”, Reviewing new features to be added, or protesting about their photo generation policies in the hope that the Sora team will see them.
It is quite fascinating to see how people have taken a technology and used it for something completely different from what it is designed to do.
Serendipithous Innovation
I’m sure there should be a word to take a technology and use it in unexpected ways that it wasn’t meant, but I can’t think what it is. ‘Serendipitous Innovation’ is quite close, like ‘transmogrification’, but they are not quite there.
Whatever the word is, it is fascinating for me to see the innovative uses that people have come up with to AI.
Of course, there is no evidence that the Sora team will act on any of these requests, but you have to imagine that they always keep an eye on what people are creating with their software and it is likely to have some influence.
Access to Sora
Sora works off you first and creates a picture from a prompt and then creates a video from a prompt based on this image.
Sora is not an independent app (which is one of the things people often request), it is found only as an option inside Chatgpt Plus and Chatgpt Pro in the web browser. When you click on Sora, the entire interface changes and you are in the video of the video senator.
If you click on images, you can see all the pictures that people create and if you click on one, you will see the actual prompt as they used to create it.
This can be really useful when designing your own prompt or that people have recently discovered if you want to try to get a message to the developers to ask for new features.
