Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) -has launched a free solar panel scheme aimed at providing sustainable energy solutions for low -income households, Express News reported.

Under the initiative, 130,000 households registered under the EHSAAS program and the Benazir Income Support program receive free solar systems.

In the first phase, 32,500 recipients are selected through a lottery system with priority that is prioritized for electricity -deprived and highly affected areas. The scheme also includes orphans, widows, disabled and transient persons.

Households selected through the draw are receiving a solar panel, controller, battery, pears and a fan.

KP Minister of Chief Ali Amin Gandapur said the initiative is aiming to tackle the lack of power in the province. “We supply free solar systems to 130,000 people due to electricity problems in the region. Most applications came from Dera Ismail Khan, but we will distribute them on profit, ”he said.

He added that all members of the provincial assembly (MPAs) have been informed that the selection process will be carried out through a lottery. “Performance must be the real competition. KP has always led in performance and I challenge everyone on this basis, ”he said.
