  • “Everything goes very well,” says the Kremlin Spox.
  • US President Trump asks Russia to “get moving.”
  • The Kremlin says contacts that take place on several levels.

The Kremlin said on Sunday that contacts with US President Donald Trump’s team went on very well, but it was too early to expect immediate results due to the damage done to the relationship under Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden.

Trump, who says he wants to be remembered as a peace champion, has repeatedly said he wants to end the “carnage” of the three-year war in Ukraine-as his administration is now throwing as a proxy conflict between the United States and Russia that repeats Moscow’s attitude.

After his special envoy, Steve Witkoff held conversations with President Vladimir Putin, Trump said on Saturday that discussions aimed at ending the war may go well, but “there is a point where you just have to set up or quit”.

“Everything goes very well,” Kremlin -speaker Dmitry Peskov told Russian State Television’s most prominent Kremlin reporter, Pavel Zarubin, when asked about the different views on the relationship between Moscow and Washington.

Contacts were underway on several levels, said Peskov, including via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, intelligence agencies and Putin’s investment utilization Kirill Dmitriev.

“But of course it is impossible to expect any immediate results,” Peskov said, referring to what he called the damage to bilateral conditions during the bite.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine from 2022 triggered the worst confrontation between Moscow and the West since the 1962 Cuban missile crisis – which is considered the time when the two cold war’s superpowers came closest to intentional nuclear war.

When Witkoff held conversations with Putin on Friday in the former Russian imperial capital Skt. Petersburg about the search for a peace deal for Ukraine, Trump said Russia of “getting moving”.

Putin was shown on the state’s TV greeting Witkoff, who held his hand to his heart in greeting, at the start of the conversations, and state news agencies later said they lasted over four hours.

When asked about a Putin-Trump meeting was getting closer, the Kremlin Peskov said that the two forces “went very patient together”, but that trying to restore the relationship took seriously and carefully work.

His words suggested that such a meeting “requires more work requires more time”.

European leaders and Ukraine describe the invasion of 2022 as a land-rich-style rural grip of Putin, and European leaders have repeatedly demanded that Russia be defeated on the battlefield, although Moscow forces control almost one fifth of Ukraine.

Putin throws the war in Ukraine as part of a battle with a falling vest, which he says humiliated Russia, after the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 by expanding NATO’s military alliance and intervention of what he considers Moscow’s sphere of influence, including Ukraine.
