- Patrick Wilson has joined the cast The last of us season 3
- He will play Jerry, Abby’s father, in the upcoming episodes
- His casting was announced alongside Jason Ritter, who plays a new role
The Last of Us season 3 have added The art of magic star Patrick Wilson to his cast, playing the role of Jerry, Abby’s (Kaitlyn Devers) father.
We don’t yet have specific plot details for Season 3, but Jerry’s arrival in the series is important. As longtime fans know, he plays a crucial role in Abby’s backstory after he was killed by Joel (Pedro Pascal), who was the catalyst for her revenge mission.
So Jerry will be pivotal to the Season 3 storyline and I’m very excited to see Wilson take on the role. I’d say it’s a break from the horror genre, but let’s be real, Clickers is just as scary.

This news was revealed by Deadline, who also confirmed that Jason Ritter has been cast and will play the role of Hanley, a WLF soldier. So we have two big new additions coming when the HBO show returns.
Their reports have also hinted that Season 3 will be told from Abby’s perspective.
We may have some time to wait for the series to return as it is expected to air in 2027.
Earlier, HBO boss Casey Bloys told Variety, “The series is definitely slated for 2027. Craig is still working on whether it will be two more seasons or one more long season. It hasn’t been decided yet, and I’m following Craig’s lead on that.”
We also know that Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann will retain a “high-level role” for Season 3, having previously stepped down as co-showrunner.
Clearing up some confusion, Druckmann told Variety, “It felt like I could handle all of my duties better if I stayed at a higher level. It was quite challenging to be so involved as a co-showrunner on Season 1 and Season 2 while running a studio and working and directing and writing a game.”
Right now we’re all on the edge of our seats waiting for updates, but these two big cast announcements have definitely got me looking forward to next season.
