- IPhone 17 -luft battery could be under 3,000 mAh
- This fits in with past leaks about the handset
- iOS 26 could extend the life of the battery to last a full day
When Apple comes around to launch the new iPhone 17 Series in September, it looks very likely to be a whole new model: Super-Smooth iPhone 17 Air. According to a new rumor that slenderness could come at the expense of battery capacity.
The well-known Tipster Instant Digital (via macumors) says the iPhone 17 air comes with a battery that is less than 3,000 mAh in terms of its capacity. In comparison, the iPhone 16 is equipped with a 3,651 mAh battery.
Of course, we do not know how it will translate into actual battery life, but it seems that the new handset may be struggling to match the time between fees that the current models offer. According to Apple, the iPhone 16 gives you 22 hours of video playback on a single charge, although more demanding tasks use more battery life.
According to the same tipster, power saving mode on iPhone – which is improved with a new adaptive state in iOS 26, will also mean that you can get through a day’s moderate use with iPhone 17 air.
Battery size and battery life
It is perhaps no surprise that the iPhone 17 air comes with a less than normal battery. It makes sense that if the thickness of the chassis shrinks, there will be less room for a battery to drive the handset.
Previous leaks have added the iPhone 17 Air Battery size to 2,800 mAh, which fits in with the new information. However, there have also been rumors about upgraded battery technology that can make it possible to supply more battery life of smaller batteries.
It is also worth mentioning that battery capacity is not the whole story when it comes to the life of the battery, although of course it has an important role. IPhones typically have less batteries than the best Android phones, but can maximize battery life through design efficiency and software optimizations.
Remember that none of this is safe until Apple makes it officially. If you are wondering what an advanced, ultra -thin phone can actually be like using in 2025, you can check out our Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Review.
