LAHORE:

Chief Justice Aalia Neelum of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has decided to fill all approved judicial posts in the provincial high court and has initiated the process of appointment of judges to vacant posts.

The sanctioned strength of judges in the LHC is 60, but currently 42 judges, including the Chief Justice, are performing duties while 18 posts are vacant.

Because of these vacancies, the caseload has increased, placing an additional burden on serving judges. Once the appointments are made, the High Court will, for the first time in its history, function at full strength. The move is expected to help with the timely disposal of cases.
