Saddle up, boys. Taylor Sheridan never misses a day of work in his life, and that means we have more of his TV shows than we know what to do with. Farmer Season 2 may be finished, but new Yellowstone spinoff Madison is only a few weeks away.
“There are parallels in the scale of the landscape and a person’s place in that space, but it comes from a completely different point of view.”
Intrigue! We don’t know exactly how the two shows are connected, but that doesn’t mean we’re completely in the dark. For the full debrief before Madison hits Paramount+, read on.
Madison’s release date
Look at
Madison is only a few weeks away at the time of writing, and premieres on March 14.
We know that Season 1 is going to consist of six episodes, but we don’t currently know how many will fall on debut day or when the others will be released. If you ask me, my money is on the one-episode premiere, with weekly drops thereafter.
Remember season 2 of Madison has already been given the green light, so we won’t be without it for too long.
The Madison Trailer: Is There One?
Unfortunately no. The above date announcement video and first look photos are all we have so far, but I expect a full trailer to drop sometime in February.
In other words, keep your eyes open.
The Madison crew
As you might expect, the cast of The Madison is absolutely star-studded. Our main players are the Clayburn family, with other regular roles cast to fit into their lives.
- Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn
- Kurt Russell as Preston Clyburn
- Patrick J. Adams as Russell McIntosh
- Elle Chapman as Paige McIntosh
- Beau Garrett as Abigail Reese
- Amiah Miller as Brigitte Reese
- Alaina Pollack as Macy Reese
- Matthew Fox as Paul
- Kevin Zegers as Cade
- Danielle Vasinova as Kestrel
- Ben Schnetzer as Van
- Rebecca Spence as Liliana
- Will Arnett as Stacy’s therapist
If the date announcement teaser video is anything to go by, Stacy Clyburn appears to be living in Montana with her family in search of a fresh start after suffering an unknown tragedy in New York City. How important everyone else is remains to be seen, but we know little about them.
- Stacy Clyburna formidable NYC matriarch and mother to Paige and Abigail
- Preston ClyburnStacy’s husband and the patriarch of the family
- Russell McIntoshan investment banker and husband to Paige who has followed the life path laid out for him from the start
- Paige McIntoshthe somewhat self-centered New Yorker wife of Russell, an investment banker
- Abigail Reesea sardonic New Yorker and divorced mother of two
- Brigitte ReeseAbigail’s eldest daughter
- Macy ReeseAbigail’s youngest daughter
- Paulan independent bachelor who loves the outdoors
- CadeStacy’s new neighbor has been tasked with looking after her new house
- Kestrela Native woman married to a Montana rancher
- Used toa salt-of-the-earth and neighboring Montana rancher
- LilianaStacy’s friend and colleague in the NYC elite
I expect even more new characters to be announced for the show’s second season.
Madison’s plot
Here is the official logline for Madison: “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”
You may remember that the show was originally called Yellowstone 2024with Matthew McConaughey rumored to star. The project then changed names to simply Madison, with ties to McConaughey seemingly halted.
At this time, the working synopsis indicated that the show would follow “wealthy matriarch Stacy Clayburn and her family as they leave New York City and head to Montana in the wake of the tragic deaths of her husband and brother-in-law in a plane crash.”
It is unclear exactly how much of this earlier synopsis may be true, and its ties to the Yellowstone series also lack clarity. No casting for McConaughey was ever confirmed.
Where does The Madison fit into Yellowstone’s timeline?
Obviously, we pick up a few Yellowstone series now. If you wanted to see them all in chronological order, here it is Madison fits into:
- 1883
- 1923
- 1944 (unreleased)
- Yellowstone
- Dutton Ranch (released in 2026)
- Y: Marshals (released March 2)
- Madison
- 6666 (unreleased)
We’re doing a little bit of guessing when it comes to anything post-Yellowstone, since it’s assumed to be direct spinoffs Y: Marshals and Dutton Ranch picking up exactly where Yellowstone left off.
We know that for sure Madison takes place after Yellowstone… we’re just not quite sure how long after.
1944 is unreleased, but its title tells us all we need to know about its spinoff location. 6666 is the one we know the least about, but it’s pronounced ‘Four Sixes’. Former Yellowstone rancher Jimmy Hurdstorm (Jeffrey White) is expected to be sent there to learn to be a cowboy, which could happen at any time.
