The majority of the vote

The Election Court decided 35 elections Petitions related to 2024 Parliamentary elections between April 21 and July 31, 2025. With these decisions, the total number of loose petitions reached 171, which accounts for 46% of the total Caseload in pending 23 courts across the four provinces.

Through its systematic tracking, the free and fair electoral network (FAFEN) identified 374 elections Petitions – 124 Challenging the election results in the National Assembly’s constituencies and 250 in the provincial assemblies (PA) constituencies.

So far, approximately two-thirds (62%) of the petitions remain related to NA-election circles and half (50%) of those relating to the provincial assemblies’ constituencies.

During the reporting period, 28 of the 35 were decided petitions from Punjab, three each from Sindh and KP and one from Balochistan.

In Punjab, the four Lahore-based courts decided 15 petitions, the Bahawalpur Court of Justice decided nine, while Rawalpindi and the Multan courts decided two each.

In Sindh, the two Karachi courts decided three petitions. In KP, Bannu’s court decided three cases. In Balochistan, a Quetta Court decided a petition.

While Punjab courts have been pace in deciding the petitions, the judging process of the remaining three provinces has slowed noticeably since April 2025. As many as 12 out of the 23 election courts have not entered into any petition since April 21, 2025.

Overall, Balochistan’s three courts have collectively decided 44 out of 52 petitions (85%) filed for NA and PA election circles. Punjab’s eight courts have resolved 94 out of 192 petitions (49%).

KP’s six courts have decided 12 out of 43 petitions (28%), while Sindh’s five courts have disposed of 21 out of 84 petitions (25%).

Out of 124 petitions challenging NA -Selection Circuit results, 47 (38%) have been decided so far. These include 30 from Punjab, nine from Balochistan, five from Sindh and three from KP.

With regard to PA election circles, 124 out of 250 petitions (50%) have been decided, including 64 from Punjab, 35 from Balochistan, 16 from Sindh and Nine from KP.

Out of the 171 petitions decided so far, 168 has been rejected, while only three have been accepted.

Among the 168 redundancies, 81 petitions (48%)-including 24 were related to NA-election circles and 57 to PA-election circles-rejected due to non-maintenance.

Another 22 petitions (13%) were rejected after the petitioners could not prove their case during the trial.
