Lahore:
Minister of Railways Hanif Abbasi on Saturday was chairman of a detailed meeting on Lahore-Islamabad high-speed train and upgrading six routes in Punjab. Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb attended the meeting on behalf of the PML-N LED Punjab government.
A detailed orientation was given to reduce Lahore-Islamabad too time from the current 4 hours to 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Punjab government confirmed its commitment to working with the Pakistan railways and discussing important agreements.
The train departing from Lahore will pass through Lalamusa, Dina and Gujar Khan before reaching Rawalpindi. The Kalowal-Pandora section is transformed and the track will double, increasing the line’s capacity to handle up to 120 trains in each direction. Other initiatives include the complete reconstruction of all bridges, redevelopment of station yards and other necessary measures.
After the meeting, Marriyum Aurangzeb said this project is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Punjab’s vision. “The train project is a wonderful gift to the people,” she said. The provincial minister also praised Hanif Abbasis’s efforts.
