The Ministry of Finance has rejected reports attributing a statement to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on an increase in government employees’ salary, Express News reported.
In a clarification issued on Monday, the ministry stated that the Minister of Finance did not leave any such notice on the floor of the National Assembly. It added that reports suggesting otherwise are “not based on facts.”
“The Minister of Finance did not mention any revision of pay scales or wage increases for government employees in his speech,” the ministry said.
The clarification follows previous reports claiming that the upcoming federal budget does not include any proposal to raise wages and pension employees.
The Ministry also stated that a written answer was given to a parliamentary question informing parliament that there is currently no proposal for considering to revise pay scales or increase wages and allowances for federal employees in the next financial year.
