- Rolls Royce’s debut electric vehicle has up to 659 hp for short bursts
- Chassis, control and suspension have been revised for greater control
- ‘Vapor Violet’ color inspired by neon lights from the 1980s club culture
If there was ever an internal combustion-motinated car that was founded for a switch for electrification, it would be a Rolls-Royce. Large, wafting and almost silenced when sealed inside the coconut hut, the brand has found the EV transition easier than others.
Plus, with an increasingly younger audience, bent of sales in China and elsewhere, the British mark has been able to play on its image, with black badge products representing a more aggressive, street-soak approach to traditional luxury As if the brand came into the disadvantage of skepta cooling on the back.
It only seems natural that Rolls-Royce has used this mindset on Black Badge Specter Black Badge, its first fully electric model. The sub-label has proven to be surprisingly popular with buyers where the company stated that Standard Specter was “the most requested Rolls-Royce model in Europe last year”, according to Inside EVS.
Specter Black Badge takes things up with a notch, with an illuminated Pantheon grill, a new steam violet color inspired by Neon Lights of the 1980s and 1990s club culture and illuminated black badge -running records.
Chrome has been ditched in favor of darker shades, with a painted ice cream black bonnet available to those who want to stand out. The new 23-inch five-nourished forged aluminum wheel design can be set in black, while a carbon woven technical finish for the interior ends the look.
Perhaps more importantly, the company has found it appropriate to increase the effect to 485 kW (659 hp) when drivers press a new infinity button on the steering wheel.
Chassis, control and suspension attenuation have also been reworked to help improve the dynamics of the vehicle, increase body control and reduce ‘squatting’ during acceleration or deceleration.
A good thing too because there is also a game on launch check, called Spirited Mode, driving the car from 0-60 km / h in just 4.1 seconds (down from 4.4 seconds of the standard spectrum) thanks to a burst of 1075 NM that is temporarily provided.
In true Fire-Chat-style style, British Marque claims that the new bursts of extreme power are a tribute to Rolls-Royce Merlin engine found in Supermarine Spitfire, which would allow pilots to have an outbreak of additional force by that push a switch on the throttle quadrant. Tally ho!
Of course, there is no word about price, just like the way with all Rolls-Royce models, but the company thinks Black Badge Edition will prove to be popular.
It claims that early client demand requested the creation of a secret fleet of black badge spectators, so it felt right to now offer it in a more official way.
Analysis: EVS Usher in a new era of luxury
Rolls-Royce remains close to sales figures and chooses to preserve the anonymity of its ultra-won client base. That said, it seems that the company is finding the transition to electrification much easier than many other car manufacturers operating in the luxury market.
Having the backing and know -how of the BMW group has clearly helped, which has offered a white label version of its IDRive -Infotainment system (among other things) to run Marque’s digital offering for the 21st century.
Apparently, because most Rolls-Royce owners don’t have to worry about handling cables charging, Specters see the relatively lean 195 kW max charging speed on the massive 120kWh battery also not to be a problem. The probability is that they have someone else to deal with that kind of thing.
While the internal combustion engine under the bonnet of a Rolls-Royce has always been a technical marvel, it has not necessarily come to define the vehicles that have become known for one of the most wafting, luxurious rides of something for sale .
Adding electric engines and an ultra-large battery pack has only added that feeling of opulence when kicking back into the exquisite furnished rear seats or when choosing to drive.
Plus, with a younger, more environmentally conscious customer demographic, the appeal appeals to a less polluting and more forward-thinking Rolls-Royce to pay off.
