While Amazon has so far highlighted and shown Alexa+ across the Echo Show 15 and Echo Show 21, we finally got a look into the vision of hardware designed for the next generation, AI-driven smart assistant and it’s an almost unanimous upgrade.
Like the more modern, something Death Star -like Echo Dot Max or Echo Studio, shows the new Echo Show 8 and the Echo 11 design language for Amazon’s smart screens. Gone is the voluminous, bulbous backwards with an always tilted screen attached to the front, which sits flat like a brick.
The screens on the new Show 8 and Show 11 look almost to flow from any direction, mounted higher with a few centimeters below to let the speakers baked into the basic fire forward. You could say that this is to let Alexa’s voice be heard, but also so that music, podcasts, audio pictures, audiobooks, TV shows, movies and even cooking instructions sound robust.
Either 8-inch or 11-inch screen on the Echo show is remarkably thin, especially compared to previous Echo shows. These look beautiful and modern in every way, and while you may be tempted to pull off the screen, the Echo show is definitely not a tablet.
The base and the rear hull where the screen is mounted is finished with a woven net that feels soft to the touch and add the elegance. It is essentially the outer shell of the new Echo Smart speakers, which further strengthens the impression of a holistic overhaul. You get your choice between Glacier White and Graphite.
This is also the first hardware that matches Alexa+, which comes pre -installed when the show 8 and Show 11 are turned on – and you’ve accepted the terms. Remember it is free with a prime membership or $ 20 a month.
You primarily check the Echo Show 8 or 11 with your voice via Alexa and its integrated remote field microphones, but the screens are also touched. Amazon promises that these are designed to look good from any angle and that the content remains visible, whether you see a slideshow of photos, explore widgets, watch content, or when Alexa throws a visual up to answer an inquiry.
The Echo Show 8 boasts an 8.7-inch HD touch screen with a resolution of 800 × 1134, while the show 11 has a 10.95-inch full HD touch screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1200. However, when light hits them, fingerprints become clear and they do not offer much in the way of an anti-reflective coating.
Both models were plenty of responsive and drove the new Vegaos, similar to previous interfaces on other Echo shows. It is a little less messy with clear markings between widgets. Everything Zippy felt thanks to the AZ3 Pro chip under the hood.
While I didn’t try it, embedded in the slim top edge of the show 8 and Show 11 is a new 13-megapixel camera with software-driven auto-raming. This should come well to take video calls.
Driving the sound of both Show 8 and Show 11 is a few drivers in full range and a 2.8-inch woofer. These push out sound below the screen and out of the top of the base behind it and deliver what Amazon promises is significantly improved sound in almost all use cases.
Similar to Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, Amazon’s latest Echo speaker hardware doesn’t necessarily come cheap. For High-End look, Amazon has set a more Premium price tag for $ 179.99 / £ 179.99 / AU $ 349 for Echo Show 8 and $ 219.99 / £ 219.99 / AU $ 429 for Echo Show 11.
Both sizes are now available for pre -ordering directly on Amazon and start sending on November 12, 2025. I am eager to go practically with these more deep from my own home, but even with a more expensive MSRP than I might like, Amazon has left a lasting impression on me with the pure upgrade in appearance.
The new Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11 don’t match exactly what a previous Echo show may have looked – and I think it’s the poenget.
