- A new PS portal update is released today with new features aimed at improving the user experience
- Players will be able to catch gameplay during cloud streaming and sort their games
- A new queue feature is added when a streaming server is full, among other features
A new PlayStation portal update arrives today, bringing a wealth of new features aimed at improving the user experience while using cloud -playing streaming beta.
As detailed in a new PlayStation blog post, the first new feature players are expecting a sorting feature on the catalog screen, allowing users to sort games by recently added to PS Plus (standard), name and release date.
Probably the most exciting new feature of the update is the opportunity to capture gameplay during cloud streaming.
Pressing the Create button once appears the Create menu; By pressing and holding will take a screen shot and press twice will start or complete the recording of a video clip.
Like PlayStation 5, images and videos that are captured will automatically be uploaded to the cloud server and can then be accessed via the PlayStation app. It should be noted that “recordings will be stored for 14 days after they were created”.
Another improvement allows players to queue when a streaming server is full. An estimated waiting time appears on the screen and when a place opens, the game session starts automatically.
GamePlay will also now break depending on the situation, including when the player opens the PS portal Quick Menu when they press the Power / switch button once to enter residual mode or if a system error message is displayed.
Finally, users will receive a system message when their streaming session is finishing due to inactivity in over 10 minutes and a user feedback screen has been added at the end of the sessions to judge the quality of the experience.
The new PS portal update was to be rolled out today, but Techradar Gaming found that a 92.26 MB download can currently be downloaded from 1 p.m. 12.00 BST today.
Sony added that as Cloud Streaming (Beta) is still an experimental offer, “the available features of the beta period can change over time and may not reflect the final experience”.
