High-end peripheral brand Scuf has revealed Scuf Valor Pro, a relatively affordable Xbox Pro controller that looks like a surprisingly comprehensive package at its price.
For $ 99.99 / £ 99.99 (which is huge $ 80 / £ 60 less than Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2) you get a Premium GamePad compatible with Xbox Consoles and PC. It is the first Scuf Xbox controller to have the very desirable Hall Effect Thumbsticks, which is more long lasting and helps prevent thumbstick operation.
It boasts a brand new audio control system that allows you to finish your headset audio via two small calls directly on GamePad. You also get what the company calls ‘contoured bumpers’ – a larger bumper form wrapped around the top of the controller for faster input.
This is at the top of a barrier of the expected pro -controller features, such as four redirected rear paddles, the ability to save up to three unique control profiles, instant trigger locks and rubberized grips. While no carrying bag is included in the box, you get two additional thumbs to customize your controller further.
On paper, Scuf Valor Pro looks like a major upgrade compared to the Standard Xbox Wireless Controller and even has significantly more features than the Xbox Elite Series 2 at a much lower price. Although it seems that it will rank among the best Xbox controllers on the market, there is a big catch to keep in mind.
Scuf Valor Pro can only be used in a cable associated capacity and comes with a 10ft braided USB-C cable for this purpose. This may not be a huge deal for some, but it can make it difficult to fit the controller into your setup – especially if you play on the couch a reasonable distance from the TV.
Despite this, Scuf Valor Pro seems to be a very compelling offering and it is great to see a traditionally expensive brand as a scuf branch in lower cost products. Scuf Valor Pro is available now via the Scuf Web site.
