- The next Xbox -Consol is reportedly scheduled for a 2027 release
- Sources claim that the next general console has been “fully green -lit” on Microsoft
- Microsoft also plans to launch a PC game that is handheld this year
Microsoft is reportedly planning to release the next Xbox console in 2027.
According to Windows Central, it claims that sources have indicated that the “internal successor” has been “fully green up to CEO Satya Nadella” and is now “fully in production”.
It is understood that the next generation hardware will include a “Premium successor to the powerful Xbox Series X” and several new controller settings and is intended to release in 2027.
Microsoft has previously confirmed that an Xbox Series X sequel is in the works. By 2021, almost six months after the launch of its current consoles, the company said it was “hard to work with new hardware and platforms” but was unable to offer more details at that time.
Although it seems that the next Xbox console is a few years away, Windows Central also reports that a partner PC Gaming Handheld Console is set to launch later this year.
It is said that the company is working with an unknown “PC Gaming OEM” to release an Xbox partner who is handheld console currently under the codename ‘Keenan’.
There are no specific details to be unpacked yet, but the Window Central Sources say the handheld device looks “unmistakable ‘Xbox’, with an official Xbox guide button and design sensitivity.
In November 2024, Xbox chief Phil Spencer confirmed that Microsoft was working with Xbox handheld prototypes and said “the expectation is that we would do something” in the handheld unit category.
