- Now bar is an important new feature in a UI 7
- Several third -party appeals are allegedly on the way
- A UI 7 is on the way to older phones next month
Samsung launched a UI 7 (its acquisition of Android 15) at the same time as the Galaxy S25 flagships back in January, and one of the most important new features is the lock screen now bar – a feature set to become much more useful in the near future.
According to South Korean Outlet ET-News (via Sammobile), several third-party apps are set to support the now bar-self there is no specific timeframe for integration. Two South Korean apps are specifically mentioned, cocoa t for booking taxi trips and naver sports for live sports score.
Presumably, these efforts to add several third-party apps will expand internationally, although one-news does not name anyone else. The more apps it now supports the bar, the more useful it becomes, which means more users will benefit from it.
Samsung has pushed the now bar as an important innovation in a UI 7, and we have also described it as one of the best features of the software. It is essentially Samsung’s acquisition of live activities on iOS that shows useful information from apps right on the lock screen that can be updated in real time.
Using the now bar
If you have a Samsung Galaxy S25, you already have a UI 7 – and the now bar is probably already at the bottom of your lock screen showing widgets for timers, the now short summary, media playback and more.
Go to Settings and Select Lock screen and AOD to find Now Bar page. You can see that you can set which apps will appear in the now Bar from here: Currently, the list is dominated by Samsung and Google Apps, which is why third -party appeals would be welcome in the future.
Google Maps is an app that has recently added now bar support, so you can see the turning of the turn on the lock screen. Android is already offering sustained notifications to this kind of information in real time, but now it makes it easier to get on a locked phone.
We are still waiting for a UI 7 to go to the Samsung hand set beyond the Galaxy S25 series, although the rollout is scheduled to get started next month. It is not clear at the moment when newer a phone, you will have to take advantage of the now bar feature, but we should get some clarity about it soon.
