Liv Golf Star broke his driver on the second hole in his round and ended without it. He still managed to the Birdie hole on his way to 68. He had five birdies on the day to pair with his two bogeys. Players are prevented from replacing their clubs in the middle of the round.

He opened up to break the club after the round.

“To be perfectly honest, I didn’t feel like I was doing so much on 2. Tee,” he said via golf.com. Of course, I didn’t hit a good drive and I kind – I didn’t smack it down. I liked pushing it back. I’ve done it 50 times and I’ve never broken a club. The shaft just cracked in half and I was surprised. I didn’t try to break it and I was actually surprised when I saw it – for it usually if it breaks it breaks at the neck and it broke in the middle of the shaft.

“I don’t know, maybe shaft a little thing there because I didn’t want what I did, it should have broken, but that was what it was and then I got a good practice when I threw it.”

Garcia’s 34th place was the best of the year in the big tournaments.
