The opposition alliance supports PTI’s demands

ISLAMABAD:

An alliance of opposition parties – Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ain – has urged the PML-N-led government to establish better relations with all neighboring countries, especially Afghanistan, while endorsing the charter of demands that the PTI has presented in its talks with the government.

In a meeting of the alliance held in the federal capital on Thursday, PTI’s negotiating committee chairman Omar Ayub took other members of the alliance into confidence for the talks.

The meeting included discussions on the alliance’s future strategy. The participants agreed to intensify contact with other political parties, including Awaam Pakistan Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sherani and the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA).

Leaders of allied parties endorsed the PTI negotiating committee’s charter of demands.

Later, PTI’s Zartaj Gul stated that heavy protests would be held, both inside and outside Parliament, to demand the release of political prisoners, including PTI founder Imran Khan.

Discussions also touched on relations with neighboring countries, including Afghanistan.

PTI’s Asad Qaiser stressed the need for effective diplomacy to improve relations with Afghanistan and create a peaceful environment in the region. He highlighted the need for measures to also increase trade with Afghanistan.

Qaiser welcomed the ceasefire in Gaza, describing it as a positive development. “Despite global support, Israel has failed to achieve its goals in Palestine,” he added.
