Plans to hold meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz, President Zardari, Field Marshal Asim Munir

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is due to visit Pakistan on an official visit from December 8 to 9. This is Indonesian President Prabowo’s first visit to Pakistan. The visit is set to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.
In a post on X, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry stated that President Prabowo is set to hold meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The two sides will tackle a comprehensive agenda focused on deepening ties between Pakistan and Indonesia and identifying new opportunities for cooperation across trade, investment, defence, health, IT, climate, education and culture, while working to strengthen cooperation on regional and global platforms.
“Several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit,” the FO post says.
The post describes the close relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia, enhanced by “shared values and mutual interests.”

“President Prabowo’s visit will provide an important opportunity to deepen bilateral ties and expand mutually beneficial cooperation, contributing to the continued growth and diversification of the partnership between the two countries”.
The last presidential visit from Indonesia to Pakistan was conducted by President Joko Widodo in 2018.
In July this year, Indonesian Defense Minister Lt. Gen. (retired) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin called on Prime Minister Shehbaz at the Prime Minister’s Office, where he reiterated Indonesia’s desire to “further strengthen defense ties with Pakistan and to explore possible areas of cooperation, especially in defense production,” according to a statement from the government-run PID.

Defense Minister Sjamsoeddin also met Field Marshal Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to discuss strengthening military ties, the military’s media wing reported.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Indonesian Defense Minister, who is leading a delegation of senior representatives from various military and intelligence services, has held extensive talks with Pakistan’s top military leadership.
