- The filming has started Rings of power season 3
- Amazon officially confirmed as much on December 10th
- The announcement indicates that a late release in 2026 is not out of the question
Amazon has confirmed that filming has begun Rings of power season 3.
Revealed yesterday (Dec. 10) on the high fantasy show’s social media channels, Amazon officially announced that Season 3’s filming schedule had ended. And to celebrate the end of principal photography on Rings of powerThis past season, the e-commerce giant released a 30-second video that – unfortunately – doesn’t give us the slightest hint of what to expect from its next chapter.
With the cameras starting to roll on Rings of power season 3 in late July, it has taken just over four months for the Prime Video TV show’s cast and crew to film what they need for the upcoming installment.
Of course, it’s likely that reshoots and/or pickups will be required in the coming months to help with each episode’s narrative flow. Right now, however, work can begin on the next phase of The Lord of the Rings The TV prequel’s third season – i.e. its long post-production phase.
When is The Rings of Power Season 3 coming out on Prime Video?
There is no set launch date for the return of one of the best Prime Video shows yet. Despite the amount of post-production work that needs to be completed before it arrives, I wouldn’t rule out a late 2026 release window for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powernext post.
In fact, the show’s first season dropped in September 2022, just over a year after filming wrapped with its pandemic shooting schedule. Meanwhile, Season 2 premiered 14 months after the cameras stopped rolling in June 2023, meaning Rings of power‘s second excursion disembarked in August 2024.
As I keep saying, the time it will take to complete post-production on Season 3 means there is no chance of an early or mid-2026 release. If Amazon wants the next chapter to launch as soon as possible and give fans something to watch during the 2026 festive season, it will be a safe bet to release season 3 on one of the world’s best streaming services in December. I think we’ll find out if that’s possible in the coming months.
