The Central Ruet-E-Hilal Committee meets in Peshawar today (Friday) for Ramadan Moon Sighting. However, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said there is little chance of seeing the Ramadan moon on Friday due to cloudy weather.

The Central Ruet-E-Hilal Committee will meet in Peshawar at. 18:30 on February 28 to determine the start of the Holy Month. The chairman of the committee, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, will preside over the meeting after the ASR prayer.

According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, zone committees across the country will also convene separately to assess the Moon’s observation reports. Religious scholars from different school schools will participate in the central session.

Met Office has predicted partially cloudy conditions over Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, over the next 24 hours. “Due to cloudy weather, the chance to see the Ramadan moon is low,” the department said.

PMD noted that at the sunset, the moon’s age would be about 12 hours with a moon-sunshine separated on about five degrees factors that could further reduce visibility.
