- Masimo Corporation archives new report with SEC confirming attack
- It says it suffered a cyberattack that curled operations
- No threat actors assumed the responsibility yet
Masimo Corporation has confirmed to suffer a cyber attack that paralyzed its operation and forced it to close parts of its infrastructure to solve the problem.
In a new 8-k form that was filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Masimo said it discovered unauthorized activity on its local network on April 27, 2025.
That replied by activating its incident response protocols and isolating affected systems and bringing in third-party cybersecurity experts to analyze the attack and notified law enforcement.
Ransomware or not?
The investigation is still in progress, Masimo said, but confirmed that the attack curled its operations: “As a result of the incident, some of the company’s production facilities worked at less than normal levels, and the company’s ability to process, fulfill and give customer orders that have been affected in a timely manner,” the archives said.
“The company has worked extensively to bring back the affected parts of its network online, restore normal business operations and reduce the impact of the incident.”
Attacks that force companies to close parts of their IT networks usually end up becoming ransomware.
Since Masimo’s Sky Systems appears to be unaffected by the attack, this may not be the case. The study is still going on, so we just have to wait and see. No threat actors have also not assumed the responsibility for the attack yet.
Masimo is a US-based medical technology company that develops non-invasive monitoring solutions such as Pulse Oximetry and Brain Function Monitoring.
Health organizations are often the targets of ransomware attacks as they generate and have huge amounts of very sensitive information. Medical data can be resold on the dark web for profits or used in targeted phishing attacks and identity theft.
