The US Ministry of Education has launched Title IX studies of athletic associations in California and Minnesota after saying they would ignore President Donald Trump’s executive order to keep transnry athletes out of girls and women’s sports.

“Minnesota State High School League and California Interscholastic Federation are free to engage in all the meaningless virtue signals they want, but at the end of the day they must comply with federal legislation,” said Craig Trainor, acting assisting secretary of civil rights.

“(Office of Civil Rights’) Chicago and San Francisco Regional offices will conduct corrected studies of both organizations to ensure that female athletes in these states are treated with the dignity, respect and equality that Trump administration requires.
