The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Cyprus, Collins Stewart, on Friday met Pakistani Ambassador Munir Akram to brief him on the activities of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), which maintains peace between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities on the island .
Collins extended his congratulations on Pakistan’s assumption of its seat as an elected member of the Security Council, according to a press release issued by Pakistan’s mission to the United Nations. During the meeting, he highlighted various challenges faced by UNFICYP staff in fulfilling their mandate.
