A delegation from the US Congress called for the Chief of Army Staff (Coas) General Syed Asim Munir at the general headquarters (GHQ) and famous the central role of the Pakistani army in the fight against terrorism, Express News reported.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the US Congress Delegation was led by congressman Jack Bergman and included congressman Thomas Suozzi and the honorary Jonathan Jackson.
During the meeting, both sides discussed questions of mutual interest with special emphasis on regional security and defense cooperation. The two parties confirmed the importance of sustained commitment based on mutual respect, shared values and strategic interests.
ISPR declared that US legislators appreciated the Pakistani army’s significant contribution to combating terrorism and recognized Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to promote regional peace and stability. The delegation also praised the resilience of the Pakistani nation and recognized its strategic potential.
The US delegation expressed respect for Pakistan’s sovereignty and repeated its commitment to improving broad -based bilateral cooperation in areas, including security, trade, investment and economic development.
According to the official statement, General Asim Munir thanked the delegation for their visit and emphasized that Pakistan is seeking to strengthen and diversify his long -standing partnership with the United States. He emphasized that this relationship should be rooted in mutual interests and respect for national sovereignty.
ISPR also noted that Memorandums about understanding (Mous) was signed during the meeting to promote educational collaboration in information technology.
