Pakistan’s federal Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi has met Eric Mayer, a senior official from the US State Department who is currently leading an American delegation on a visit to Pakistan.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed a number of topics, including strengthening the relations between the United States and Pakistan, terrorist efforts and areas of mutual interest, Express News reported.
Mayer expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for his cooperation in the recent arrest of the sought -after terrorist, Sharif Allah.
He praised the efforts of Pakistani authorities in tackling terrorism and securing both nations.
Mayer also condemned the terrorist attack on Jaffer Express and expressed grief for loss of life and expanded compassion to the families affected.
The meeting also covered other critical areas of cooperation, including Counter-Narcotic’s efforts, terrorism prevention and tackling smuggling.
NAQVI emphasized that the upcoming joint terrorist dialogue, planned for June in Islamabad, would provide a platform to further strengthen cooperation between the two nations on the fight against terrorism.
Naqvi noted that the fight against terrorism was not only Pakistan’s struggle but a global battle. He emphasized the importance of continued international support for Pakistan to tackle this issue.
In addition, the Minister of the Interior mentioned that US companies could greatly benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan, especially through the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum.
Mayer also showed interest in these opportunities and emphasized the potential of US companies to engage deeper in Pakistan’s growing market.
The meeting also included US ambassador (ad interim) Natalie Baker, Prime Minister of the domestic Talal Chaudhry and Interior Minister Khurram Agha.
The US Delegation arrived in Pakistan to participate in Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025.
