The global bachelor’s exchange program (Global Ugrad) for Pakistan is officially completed after 15 years, the US Education Funds in Pakistan (USEFP) confirmed on Tuesday.
Semester-Long Exchange Initiative, which enabled Pakistani bachelor students to study at an American university or university in a non-degree semester, was administered by USEFP and funded by the US government.
In a statement, the Fund announced: “We regret to inform you that after 15 incredible years, the global bachelor’s exchange program for Pakistan has ended. The US State Department informed UseFP that the Global Ugrad Pakistan program will no longer be offered. We understand that this news may be disappointing, especially for those who applied for this year.”
USEFP described the program as having offered “life -changing experiences” to thousands of students across its races, which facilitates academic enrichment, cultural exchange and leadership development.
The program was launched in 2010 and aimed to cultivate a spirit of service and leadership among Pakistani youth while improving their commitment to their community.
In its farewell message, UseFP expressed pride over the transformative role the exchange had played.
“While this chapter is closing, we encourage you to explore other exchange and scholarship options that can adapt to your hopes,” it said.
