- Unitree A2 is a new quadrupled robot
- Its super fast
- A2 can hold up to a 220 lb load
If someone threw a robot action hero movie and they didn’t want a humanoid (or Arnold Schwarzenegger), they may be able to hire the brand new Unitree A2. This quadrupled robot can run, jump, climb, spoil trays, tumble, carry a heavy load and, yes, as depicted in the promo video, smash through a plate with glass. All that is missing here is Blockbuster Action Movie Soundtrack.
At a maximum speed of 11.2 km / h, the new A2 is somewhat of a landmark in four doubles that exceeds standard Robo Dynamics Spot Robot at almost 8 miles per hour.
The A2 Stellar Explorer model depicted in the video is built for all kinds of robust and uneven terrain. Its 30 cm step height helps it step over rocks and mounted stairs with abandonment. It is also comfortable with a 45-degree slope up or downhill.
While it lacks a head or any features that can help you easily anthropomorphic it can “see”. The odd -looking square user at the front and back -mounted Lidar to monitor his environment and make adjustments on aircraft.
In the video, the A2 does not get every step right, but even a trip, fall or tumble do not appear to stop the propagating A2’s 12-density 12 engines.

It is also ready to carry significant loads. In the video stands an adult man on the A2’s back and demonstrates its maximum standing load capacity of 220 lbs. In motion it can carry a 25 lb package.
While Unitree does not specify the life of the battery, the A2 is equipped with a 9,000 mAh battery and the option of an 18,000 mAh double battery pack. In the video it carries a 30 kg payload for over 3 hours of almost 13 km.
As for its emergency preparedness for the big outdoors, the A2 is judged IP56, which means it can withstand a jet of water and we assume that it also means a rainy weather. However, it does not sound like it can handle any kind of immersion of water.
Pricing and accessibility are not set, but Unitree has come under the average of the industry when it comes to price. We’ll see if A2 fits that model.
