- Private Sky provider Vultr is the first to implement the AMD instinct MI325X
- The move beats like Google and Microsoft to the Stance
- Vultr bought earlier thousands of instinct mi300x AI -accelerators
In October 2024, we reported how Vultr, a leading privately owned cloud computing platform, had purchased thousands of AMD’s instinct MI300X AI accelerators. This step marked a significant expansion of Vultr’s partnership with AMD and was aimed at giving access to groundbreaking GPUs and ROCM Open Software Ecosystem.
Now comes News Vultr, which has been self-financed for over a decade, will be the first cloud provider to implement AMD’s instinct MI325X GPU that pips them like Google and Microsoft to the position.
While MI300X offers 192 GB HBM3 -Memory and 5.3 TB/S of bandwidth, MI325X is improved with 256 GB HBM3E -Memory, 6TB/S of bandwidth and faster FP16 and FP8 speeds of up to 1.3 pflops and 2 , 6 pflops. Powerful enough to run Crysis (in a DAAS VM).
New AI Industrial standards
“AMD Instinct MI325X sets new AI Industrial standards and delivers incredible achievement and efficiency to inference,” said JJ Kardwell, CEO of Vultr.
“The MI325X instinct gives our customers prioritized access to advanced GPU hardware, allowing them to scale AI implementations in production. Together we unlock new opportunities for AI innovation and shape the future of cloud GPU infrastructure worldwide. “
This latest addition to the Vultr Cloud infrastructure, which boasts thousands of active customers in 185 countries, will be run by Supermicro as -8126GS-TNMR 8-U servers and be implemented for Vultrs Chicago Data Center region.
As with its adoption of the MI300X AI accelerators, there is no word about how many of the MI325X GPUS Vultr has acquired, but it will probably number the hundreds rather than the thousands for now.
“Designed for extraordinary performance and efficiency, AMD instinct MI325X accelerators are distinguished by requiring AI tasks, such as fund model education, fine-tuning and inference,” said Negin Oliver, company’s vice president of business development, Data Center GPU business, AMD.
“With the addition of the AMD instinct MI325X, the Vultr is strengthening companies with groundbreaking AI technology to utilize the necessary calculation effect and efficiency to drive AI advance and speed up growth.”
