- Tecno has revealed the world’s thinnest plate -phone, 5.75 mm sparkle slim
- A new iPhone 17 -air leakage suggests Apple will beat this with a 5.44mm chassis
- We are still waiting for any official information about the iPhone 17 -air
Chinese phone manufacturer Tecno has revealed the world’s thinnest record phone on the MWC 2025, but a new leak suggests that the very rumored iPhone 17 air could be even thinner.
Tecno Spark Slim measures only 5.75 mm thick at its thinnest point, not including the protruding camera, and wraps an impressive spec sheet into its Svelte-Frame-Gnist slim has a 6.78-inch OLED screen with 144Hz update frequency, double 50MP main and ultra-pida cameras and a 5,200MAH battery capacity.
However, Tecno may lose the title of the world’s thinnest Candy-Bar phone before rather than later if a new iPhone 17 air leak is to believe.
Pictures shared by the remarkable tipster Majin BU on X (formerly Twitter) appear to show a polymer or resin -dummy model of the iPhone 17 air, which is measured by a digital caliper, where the reading shows a thickness of 5.44 mm.

As with the spark -slim, this measurement is made at the thinnest point of the phone and does not take into account the camera. The leaked image confirms earlier rumors of suggesting that the iPhone 17 air will have a long, thin camera with a single camera.
In fact, the dummy model is similar to the CAD renderings that were previously shared by Majin BU -there was some debate about the plausibility of these reproductions at that time due to the massively extended camera residence on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, but images that were shared since have largely followed the Rusty Extended Design.
As Phoneearena notes, the new camera bump could push the maximum thickness of the iPhone 17 air closer to the rumor of 5.84 mm thickness of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
A narrow victory
The Galaxy S25 Edge has only got its design revealed so far – we only have rumors and estimates for basic specifications on – and the iPhone 17 air has not yet been confirmed by Apple, so the apparent run to release a thin flagship is still currently a tense wait for the starting blocks.
Unfortunately for Tecno, it is unlikely that the Smart-looking kick slim will have a lot of influence due to the brand’s global focused release strategy and a lack of US availability.
As for the iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Edge, I am hope that Apple and Samsung can get the balance right with these new slim phones and produce handsets worthy of a place on our list of the best phones.
What do you want to see from iPhone 17 Air? Do you have hope that thin phones will leave? Tell us that in the comments.
